What industrial freight actually touches.

Industrial shipments carry compliance exposure that consumer freight mostly does not. Steel and aluminum derivative products can fall under Section 232, and component-level Section 301 exposure depends on where a part was made, not just where the finished machine ships from. A multi-country bill of materials means country-of-origin has to be engineered deliberately, tracing which stage counts as substantial transformation, rather than assumed from the final assembly point. Repairs and returns crossing a border can also touch export-control category language under EAR, which is a screening question worth asking early, not legal advice to skip. None of this is static: tariff actions and classification rulings shift the exposure on a given part number, so a program built for one season needs a periodic reclassification pass, not a one-time review.
