Pricing questions, answered.
How quotes, rates, and invoices actually work.
How does Tide price a shipment?
Every quote is a full landed cost: freight, fuel, accessorials, customs where applicable, and fees, each on its own line before you book. The number you accept is the number that lands on the invoice. There are no post-hoc markups, no handling surcharges added after the fact, and no fees that first appear at billing time.
Do I pay a subscription to use the platform?
No. Spot shipping is priced per shipment, and the platform, tracking, and documentation come with the freight. Growth pricing applies negotiated volume rates to your recurring lanes. Enterprise programs are scoped contracts. In every case you pay for freight moved, not for seats or software licenses.
What is included in a quote?
The full move you request: pickup, the main leg, clearance where applicable, and delivery, plus the documentation that goes with it. Optional services like cargo insurance or warehousing are itemized separately on the same quote, so you can see exactly what each addition costs before you commit to it.
How do volume rates work?
If you ship recurring lanes with predictable volume, we negotiate rates for those lanes and hold them for an agreed period instead of quoting spot each time. You keep instant quoting for everything outside the program. Your account manager reviews the rates with you as your volumes and lanes change.
Are customs and brokerage fees included?
On Growth and Enterprise programs, customs brokerage is part of the program. On spot shipments, clearance is quoted as its own line item on the same quote, so the cost is visible upfront rather than arriving later as a broker invoice from a third party you never chose.
What happens if costs change mid-shipment?
The rate you booked is the rate you pay. Genuine pass-through events that no forwarder controls, like carrier general rate increases on unbooked legs or detention and demurrage at a port, surface in your tracking view the moment they arise, with documentation, never as a surprise line on the final invoice.
Can I get rates through an API?
Enterprise programs include API access and integrations, so your systems can request quotes and receive rate responses directly. If you want your ERP or TMS to see Tide rates without a full program, talk to sales about what your stack needs and we will scope it with you.
